About us

Ivy is a Christian tutorial that meets 4-days a week. We open up to the larger homeschool community on Fridays, for a one day a week co-op option as well. We started in Colville, WA at the beginning of the 20/21 school year. A Tutorial is when parents & tutors partner together in the education of their homeschool students. Many refer to this as “hybrid or blended learning,” where students get to mix traditional school attendance with at home instruction. The birth of the idea for Ivy tutorial started when our founder observed that many of her homeschooling friends were feeling overwhelmed. She likewise was feeling overwhelmed at times trying to juggle all the aspects of being a homeschool mother and wife.

Our tutorial is meant to offer support and consistency for families at an affordable price, leaving afternoons & Mondays to spend more time together as a family. Our tutorial offers daily subjects in bible, reading, phonics, math, history, grammar, immersive spanish, classic literature, composition, copywork, art, singing, and science just to name a few. We use the Charlotte Mason method & philosophy of education to teach these subjects. See the CM in a Nutshell button below.

How it Works

Ivy Tutorial runs for a full school year starting in early September and ending in early June. Tutors teach many core subjects that will vary depending on the grade level. We pull from a variety of curriculums, including AmblesideOnline & Simply Charlotte Mason. Our tutorial is not an accredited school but rather a place that offers support and consistency through a collaborative effort of hiring tutors to help teach our children. Each family is still responsible to register their children as homeschooled through their local district office. We will assist with examples of at home schedules that should be completed on the off days to tie into what we do on the days at Ivy.

Here at Ivy Tutorial, we believe that your child’s education is best grown under a beautiful partnership between parents, tutors, & classmates. This belief means we reserve the right to accept admissions from families we believe are ready to be partners in their children’s education. We are currently accepting applications for students in grades Tk-12th. But, space is limited, so get your applications in as soon as possible.

3 Tools Of A Charlotte Mason Education

01

Education is an Atmosphere

When we say that “education is an atmosphere,” we do not mean that a child should be isolated in what may be called a ‘child-environment’ especially adapted and prepared, but that we should take into account the educational value of his natural home atmosphere, both as regards persons and things, and should let him live freely among his proper conditions. It stultifies a child to bring down his world to the child’s level.

02

Education is A discipline

By “education is a discipline,” we mean the discipline of habits, formed definitely and thoughtfully, whether habits of mind or body. Physiologists tell us of the adaptation of brain structures to habitual lines of thought, i.e., to our habits.

03

Education is a Life

In saying that “education is a life,” the need of intellectual and moral as well as of physical sustenance is implied. The mind feeds on ideas, and therefore children should have a generous curriculum.

Mission Statement

Ivy Tutorial seeks to provide a place of encouragement, fellowship, community and support for homeschooling families, in a way that eases and enriches the mother’s already busy life. We strive to cultivate the natural curiosity and love of learning in a child so he or she becomes a lifelong learner.
